Talking the Walk

I am sick and tired of reilliterating myself. This is my personal stance:

There is nothing morally wrong with clubbing. If there is, I've too many people to condemn, and I've got better things to do with my life.

There is nothing wrong with clubbing, dancing, drinking, grinding, getting piss-drunk-like-cm-on-cookies. The question, however, is whether you are fine with it.

No one gives a shit if you puke on the dance floor. closing time. Your puke will dry, a mop will come. Tomorrow night, someone else will puke where you did. In the herd of oscillating sheeps, you really aren't that important. If you still feel a mess, take a look across the club, there are many more drunkards in agony with you. Whatever you do, you aren't alone. That's the beauty of it.

However. If you still feel bad, the problem lies not in clubbing, but with you. If you are able to accept the consequences of a hangover or a sober guilt-trip the next morning. By all means, continue.
If you are having issues accepting what you're doing, compare whether your overall happiness clubbing outweighs your sorrow.

Its really that simple.

so why don't I club nowadays? Its got nothing to do with moral highgrounds. I just dont like the loud music cause it reminds me of live firing and I'm pseudo-enochlophobic. I hate crowds.

And I should simply take the advice I tell people
Be sure of what I want and don't chase it

Origin of Species

The difference between a concept and atheory is that a theory is supported and proven by actual scientific evidences, tested by experiment whereas a concept isn't.

Science is about facts. Not ideas.

Thanks to Timmy for opening my eyes.
Suddenly, a large part of my spiritual doubt has been removed.

It is ironic that we have been conditioned to be critical in a certain way with many assumptions within our mental paremeters. It is ironic that anyone who critically challenges these paremeters are automatically seen as close-minded.

30 Years on

Next Tuesday, My parents will celebrate their 30 years of marriage.

My father, being on vacation, spent today searching through our family's old stuff.
Just now, he suddenly went around the house showing me the very first external flash unit he ever bought in his life.
He bought it from the States on his honeymoon 30 years ago. Suprisingly, it still works fine.

I learnt somethings today.
My dad has always been an avid photographer. But he never had the money in his youth to buy a proper camera. Instead, the only way he could handle a camera was by joining photographic society in his university.

Because of this, his friends bought him a SLR for his wedding gift. The very first 'proper' camera he ever had. On his honeymoon, he bought an external flash unit to complete the set.

I now realise why my dad was so pleased when I suddenly picked up his camera and started taking photos in primary 6. I now realise why my dad is always so supportive of my photographic hobbies.

He's giving me the childhood dreams he never had. More importantly, my flare for photography reminds him of my parents' wedding and their honeymoon.

To _______

I know that you never read my blog.
never once in all the time that we've been together
and chances are that you will never read this entry
not now, not never.

but I want you to know
that despite all the shit that is happening around
things aren't what they seem.

The past few months have been chaotic. confusing. messy.
The last time I saw you. I saw resolve.
This is resolution that I have gotten over it.
but I mistook it for the urge to start looking.

_____,
I've been a mess.
But recently, through the absolution of one I don't even know/
I see the clarity of everything:
you are still the best i ever had.

Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film

hahaha

FTW Movie 2009 1

In an era of shameless sequels, spin-offs and remakes, original materials are beginning to look more and more sarce however, every so often, a certain movie without original content is repackaged so marvelously that it recreates the mythical magical impact its predescessor did. Where Dragonball: Evolution failed painfully in 2009, Star Trek emerged triumphant.

I was never a Star Trek fan. The only thing I knew about the USS Enterprise was that there was a weird dude called Spock. The initial news of JJ Abrams remaking Star Trek last August didn't invoke the slightest reaction in me.

All changed when I saw their first trailer. It was then when my expectations for this film was raised to another level. My expectations for it was violated again yesterday when the film exceeded anything I thought was possible from this geek show.

From an objective perspective, Star Trek was really stimulating. It reeked of JJ Abrams. The direction style is unique.
Despite being well-polised in terms of colour and lighting, Abram gave this film a very raw feel. Every scene, be it a static of moving one, involved very subtle camera 'vibrations'. These camera shakes were not done forcefully but gently and delicately, adding a sense of chaos/ fatigue to the piece, reinforcing the fact that the crew are in the smack middle of a war.

Casting were brilliant too. I am not position to compare old with new; however, I must say that each character brought out their plot niche. There was minimal celebrity calefare. I assume that Abram was riding on the fanbase's certainty that Kirk will become captain, and that establised hope alone becomes a powerful plot device that drives Kirk's on-sceen confidence.
Some fans may argue that the new Spock seem to struggle keeping his emotions in, and is much less robotic than the original. But given the contextual plot of the movie, this is the very conflicted Spock the script called for.

John Cho and Simon Pegg were slightly awkward. Cho was slightly too suave for Dr.Zulu whileSimon Pegg's character was too eager to share himself with the audience.

Special Effects of Star Trek were great. But sadly, it would be outdone by Transformers. But nevertheless, Lighting was eye-popping. The constant use of multiple lense flares during long takes really conveyed the sense of being on board a sparkling new USS enterprise.

In summary, I would definitely consider Star Trek as one of the FTW movies of 2009 for the simple reason that it makes me want to be a star trek fan.

Buaya Darat

They were planning on filming a scene which involved me releasing a (or 2) goldfish into the Matriche Reservoir.
However, I protested on the grounds that the team could be fined by AVA on the grounds of releasing a non-native animal into the wild. But really, it is because I know that goldfish stand no chance of survival in the wild. They're as a good as a floating free frag for passing predators.
So I decided to adopt the pair on impulse. One of the many things that i've been committing on impulse lately.

But this time, my gut instincts were right. Within minutes of our shoot wrap, a fully-grown Malayan Water Monitor (aka Buaya Darat, Malay for 'Land Crocodile') appeared out of nowhere to check out the commotion.

Having worked in Mandai, an area overflowing with Monitors, I can tell you that seeing a full-grown is indeed a rare and magnificent sight. It caused quite a stir as many visitors gathered at the water's edge calling it a croc. pfft. but wow.

Behold, listening to your gut help every now and then.

A sleek shadow caught the corner of my eye. Straight away I ran to Zhiyuan and co, asking them to take this sight down, just in case.

This was the closest I got to the Malayan Water Monitor. I should have taken it with a scale of comparison, but it was roughly 1.9 metres. wow.
With 2 rows of serated teeth capable of severing the nerves on our hands, mugshot are not a good idea.
