30 Years on

Next Tuesday, My parents will celebrate their 30 years of marriage.

My father, being on vacation, spent today searching through our family's old stuff.
Just now, he suddenly went around the house showing me the very first external flash unit he ever bought in his life.
He bought it from the States on his honeymoon 30 years ago. Suprisingly, it still works fine.

I learnt somethings today.
My dad has always been an avid photographer. But he never had the money in his youth to buy a proper camera. Instead, the only way he could handle a camera was by joining photographic society in his university.

Because of this, his friends bought him a SLR for his wedding gift. The very first 'proper' camera he ever had. On his honeymoon, he bought an external flash unit to complete the set.

I now realise why my dad was so pleased when I suddenly picked up his camera and started taking photos in primary 6. I now realise why my dad is always so supportive of my photographic hobbies.

He's giving me the childhood dreams he never had. More importantly, my flare for photography reminds him of my parents' wedding and their honeymoon.
