Good Morning Temburong

Ignore all the horror stories you heard previous people talked about. Put aside the painful elaborations I may tell you in the future. If I told you Temburong Jungle was a beautiful place, would you believe me?
Its so weird how hellish such a beautiful place can be (or perhaps how beautiful hell can seem).
By requests of the upper brass, we are not supposed to express any forms of reflections and thoughts on our trainings, but I shall skirt around the issue and not mention any specifics in order not to 'compromise security'.

But it is weird how the lovely sunrise shown above can contain so much. Lush jungles and sharp undergrowths, magnificents knolls and ***king steep climbs. Fresh flowing streams and muddy banks that follow. Pretty fishes around our kness and leeches sneeking up my back. Warm camp fires and freezing mornings. The melody of cicadas at last light and the spine-chilling mystery singing at night.
There is so much to say and yet... its all the same thing all over again. Good bye Brunei, you might have left much physical scars on me, but you also taught me to see in a new light. To survive and to thrive, you must adapt and do what is necessary (and its not always what the book says). Take care of other people's ass only if yours is sufficiently covered.
Mistakes are mistakes no matter how you sugar-coat it. I am ready for the consequences of my actions regardless of how painful they may be.
Thank you God for taking care of me in Hell. Thank you for sheltering me from the swarms, from 'the others' and other hazards I could have walked into. I know you'll watch out for me now and forever. Good bye Temburong -- Good Morning God.

A Queen Cicada

Warrant Bala caught us this pretty cicada on our last night in Lakuin Camp. It supposedly fetches up to $300 if submitted to entomology museum.

Dear Pedro,
By the time you read this, you would have returned from the horror that is Lakuin. You would have finished the whole duration that seems so impossible to you and your friends. Congratulations- you have done it. Now that I am on the writing end, you will therefore strive to then be on the recieving end. I can't wait to read what I have written.
