Ideals

"The world is cruel and
Men are selfish ...
but I will not have that here in Ninja Company!"
.
.
I will never forget these words that echoed in the halls on Ninja Company. I will never forget these words that my very first OC told me as a recruit. The world is cruel and cold, the men who inhabit it are selfish, petty and conniving. This is the hard reality of life.
But thank you Sir for telling us that we have the power of choice to be indifferent to the world around us. I now work beside you and I know the challenges you willingly took up to raise us the way you believed we should be raised.
I thank you for that. It is because of you that I am where I am today in the force. You taught me so much. You taught me the power of the mind over body. The ability to overcome impossible odds even as a bald recruit, the discipline that can be achieved. You taught me the feeling of fear as well as the sensation of brotherhood. But most importantly, you taught me the power of ideals.
Ideals does not merely drive a person in the same way money motivates. It changes his thoughts, his character, his habits and lastly his lifestyle. It is the one true aspect of the person that cannot be faked.
"Duty, Honour, Country"
This is one of the most cliched motto in existence. Used by the Spartans, then US ARMY's Westpoint Military Institute, followed by SAFTI before it was revamped to be SAFTI MI. It was also the motto for Ninja Company when I was a recruit. Perhaps this was what drove my OC to take up the challenge of training us the way he did.

I, too, have my own set of ideals, my visions that have driven me throughout these 2 years of shit that I have been through. I do not intend to sign on, but that does not mean I shall forsake my ideals. I have made so much personal sacrifices to enter a position where I can make a difference. there is no way I am conforming to the rest of the incompetent lot now.

That one dumb promise I have made. I never enjoyed making but if it was your will... Thank you for giving me the strength to fulfil it up to now. I do not make it a point to the world, but I love you so much. Thank you.
